THE SPORTING CLUB DE VICHY GOLF CLUB

The Sporting club de Vichy Golf Club with its 18 hole course has its beginnings in 1907, when the wasteland along the Allier River was developed. The man behind this exciting project was Joseph Aletti, the Manager of the Société des Grands Hôtels de Vichy. The architect Gustave Simon, the architect of the Compagnie de Vichy, designed and built the first  clubhouse.

A few key dates: 1 May 1908: Inauguration; 1914: 18 hole course opens; 1922: Creation of the Sporting Club de Vichy (tenant of the Compagnie de Vichy) ; 1936 : Enlargement of 9 hole course. Every year: Improvements made to the 18 hole course. June 2003: The Sporting Club becomes the owner of the 40 hectares site. 
Celebrities from around the world have come to play in Vichy, and it is still the case today. The list includes the Emperor Annam, the Duchess of Westminster, the Queen of Yugoslavia,… and more recently, Prince Régnier of Monaco. The tennis players Yannick Noah and Henri Lecomte can also be seen playing the course.

THE VICHY MONTPENSIER FOREST GOLF COURSE

This is another 18 hole course, this time situated in the middle of a forest, with small valleys and lakes. It was opened in 1993 in the commune of Serbannes. Its location has the advantages of being only a few minutes away from main roads and the motorway, as well as the town centre. The course was designed by the golf course architects James Engh and Thierry Sprecher, and is open all year.
